Pre-Apprentice Programs

Boys & Girls Clubs of Martin County (BGCMC)

BGCMC's Skilled Trades Program is a Registered Pre-apprenticeship program and is a great way to start exploring careers in construction.  BGCMC is proud to partner with Florida Training Services, Inc. (FTS) who provides apprenticeship consulting throughout Florida by working with industries/organizations to help them enhance or create registered apprenticeship programs. They assist in program development, management, and administration using known and proven registered apprenticeship standards and curriculum from the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER). Our program combines performance-based learning in the building trades with vocational and academic skills training, encompassing life skills, career development, and on-the-job training.  The course covers basic tools and materials, offers an overview of each trade, the qualifications and skills needed for each trade, and on-the-job training. Upon successful completion, each participant will earn an OSHA-10, Forklift, Aerial Lift, CPR, and an industry recognized registered apprenticeship certifications. Afterward, they can select a specific trade of interest (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC), receive job placement in their chosen field, and continue their education with FTS to earn further certifications.
